Z1 Air App Privacy Policy

Summary

The Z1 Air mobile app does not collect, transmit, or share any personal information. It does not require an account. It does not include advertising, analytics, or tracking. It communicates only with your Z1 Air units over your own local WiFi network. The rest of this policy explains each of those points in detail.

What the App Does

The Z1 Air app (“the App”) lets you control Zone Air mini-split heat pump units that you own and have installed on your local WiFi network. It sends commands like power on/off, temperature setpoint, mode, and fan speed directly to the unit over your home network. It has an optional demo mode for previewing the app without any hardware.

Information Accessed

The App accesses only the following information, and only on your device:

• The list of Z1 Air units you have set up, including a name you give each unit (e.g., “Living Room”) and its network address.
• Hardware specs you enter for each unit (capacity, style, voltage) so the App can show accurate diagnostics.
• The current operating state reported by each unit (temperature, mode, fan speed, etc.).

All of this stays on your device. It is never sent to Zone Air or any third party.

What We Do Not Collect

The App does not collect, receive, or have access to:

• Your name, email, phone number, or any account identifier.
• Your location (no GPS or location services are used).
• Your device’s advertising identifier (IDFA).
• Contacts, photos, microphone, camera, Bluetooth, or health data.
• Usage analytics, crash reports, or telemetry of any kind.
• Any information that could be used to identify you across apps or websites.

Because the App does not collect this information, there is nothing for Zone Air to sell, share, retain, or delete on your behalf.

Local Storage on Your Device

The App stores your unit list and preferences in your device’s local storage (the app’s sandboxed user-defaults area). This data never leaves your device. You can erase it at any time by deleting the App; iOS will remove all of its local data automatically.

Local Network Access

The App asks for permission to use your local network so it can discover and communicate with Z1 Air units on your home WiFi. This permission is used solely to:

• Discover units via mDNS (Bonjour) on your local network.
• Send control commands and read state from units over HTTP and WebSocket, on your local network only.

The App does not scan your network for any other purpose, and no information about your network is sent to Zone Air or any third party.

Demo Mode

The App includes a demo mode that simulates two Z1 Air units entirely on your device. In demo mode the App does not access your network at all; all state changes are computed locally. No data is collected in demo mode.

Third Parties

The App does not include any third-party advertising, analytics, tracking, or crash-reporting SDKs. It does not share information with third parties, because it does not collect information to share.

Children’s Privacy

The App does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13. Because no personal information is collected, the App is safe for all ages to use.

Changes to This Policy

If we ever change the App to collect information, we will update this policy and the App Store privacy label before those changes take effect. The “Last updated” date above reflects the current version of this policy.
