The Z1 Air App
The Z1 Air mobile app lets you control Zone Air mini-split units that you own over your own local WiFi network. The app itself does not require an account and does not collect, transmit, or share personal information; the unit list, names, and settings you enter are stored only on your device. Smart Home & Voice Assistant Integrations
Zone Air offers optional integrations that let you control your units with Google Home, Google Assistant, and Amazon Alexa. These integrations are entirely optional and are only active if you choose to link your Zone Air account to one of these platforms. This section explains how data is handled when you use them.
Account Linking
To connect a voice assistant, you sign in to your Zone Air account through a secure authorization screen (OAuth 2.0). Your Zone Air password is never shared with Google or Amazon. Linking issues a revocable access token that allows the platform to send commands to and read the status of the units on your account. You can unlink at any time from the Google Home or Alexa app, or by contacting us, which immediately revokes that access.
Information Processed
When you link a voice assistant, our secure cloud service processes only what is needed to control your units:
- Your Zone Air account identifier and the access token created during linking.
- The list of units on your account, including the name and room you assign each unit (e.g., “Living Room”), the unit type, and its supported capabilities.
- The current operating state of each unit (such as power, temperature setpoint, mode, and fan speed).
- Commands you issue by voice or through the assistant's app (for example, “set the bedroom to 70 degrees”).
What We Share With These Platforms
To display your devices and respond to your requests, we share your unit names, types, capabilities, and current state with the connected platform (Google or Amazon) in response to their requests, and we relay your commands to your units. These platforms handle that data under their own privacy policies (see Google's Privacy Policy and Amazon's Privacy Notice). We do not use this data for advertising, and we do not sell it. We use it solely to operate the integration you requested.
Retention
We retain your linking token and device information only for as long as your account remains linked to the platform. When you unlink the integration or close your account, the associated token is revoked and the linked-device information is deleted.
Payment Processing
We use Stripe for payment processing. Your payment information is transmitted directly to Stripe and is never stored on our servers. Stripe's use of your personal information is governed by their Privacy Policy.
Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal information. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your Rights and Choices
You have the right to:
- Access, update, or delete your personal information
