110v mini split from Zone Air — wall-mounted plug-in indoor unit and outdoor condenser joined by a pre-charged, quick-connect refrigerant line set for DIY installation

What Makes Zone Air Mini Splits Easy to Install?

That would be our exclusively engineered pre-charged quick-connect line-sets. The refrigerant in our quick-connect line-sets is contained by a custom valve system that automatically releases the refrigerant upon line-set connection. No need for a vacuum pump, no need for an EPA 608 license, and no need for an HVAC technician.

Why 110v Mini Splits Are Perfect For DIY

110v mini splits can plug into any standard outlet in your home. Unlike 220v systems, 110v systems provide an easier way to power your unit. They are especially convenient if you already have a close exterior outlet and want to avoid expensive electrical work.

110v Mini Split FAQ

What is a 110v mini split?

A 110v mini split is a ductless heat pump and air conditioner that runs on a standard 110v household circuit instead of a dedicated 230V circuit. It plugs into a regular 15A outlet (NEMA 5-15) — the same type your microwave, hair dryer, or window AC uses — so no electrician is needed for the install. Zone Air offers 110v systems at 9,000 BTU and 12,000 BTU capacities, both at 23 SEER2 with R454B pre-charged linesets for DIY installation.

Can I really plug a mini split into a standard outlet?

Yes — a Zone Air 110v mini split plugs into a standard 15A NEMA 5-15 outlet, the same type used for kitchen appliances and lamps. Peak draw on the 12K model is about 1,440 watts, well under the 1,800 W continuous limit on a 15A circuit. It needs its own dedicated 15A circuit, though — do not put it on a circuit already running other appliances or HVAC equipment, or you will trip the breaker. For a weekend DIY install path, see the DIY mini split installation guide.

What size 110v mini split do I need?

Use 20 BTU per square foot as a starting point. The 9,000 BTU 110v model covers rooms 200–450 sq ft — bedrooms, offices, small ADUs, garage workshops. The 12,000 BTU 110v model covers 350–600 sq ft — master bedrooms, living rooms, finished basements. If your room is over 600 sq ft, 110v tops out at 12K — you need 18K BTU on 230V.

110v vs 230v mini split — which should I choose?

Choose 110v if you don't want to add a 230V circuit, you're renting, or your room is under 600 sq ft. The 110v models plug into a standard outlet — zero electrical work, zero electrician cost, $200–500 saved versus a 230V install. Choose 230V if your room needs 18,000 BTU (110v tops out at 12K) or you already have a free 230V circuit from a previous central AC or dryer install. For most renters, garages, and ADUs, 110v wins.
